Honoring the Legacy of Faris S. Abuzahra

The Faris S. Abuzahra Memorial Scholarship has been established with the blessing and encouragement of his family to commemorate the life of an extraordinary individual. Faris Abuzahra's legacy is one of compassion, intellect, and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in his community. This scholarship fund seeks to honor Faris's memory by supporting causes and initiatives that were dear to his heart.

The primary objective of the scholarship is to ensure that Faris Abuzahra's legacy lives on through the support of charitable endeavors. By providing this scholarship, we aim to empower individuals who embody Faris's spirit of kindness, intelligence, and dedication to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

  • Empowerment through Education: Faris Abuzahra understood the transformative power of education. In respect to his Honorary Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy, the scholarship will be granted to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to service.

  • Supporting Community Initiatives: Faris was deeply involved in various community initiatives aimed at uplifting those in need. The scholarship will be granted to individuals who support projects and organizations that align with Faris's values, including but not limited to humanitarian efforts, educational programs, and initiatives promoting social justice and equality.

  • Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Faris was an advocate for innovation and entrepreneurship. The scholarship will be granted to individuals who are aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them turn their ideas into reality and make a positive impact in their respective fields.

In honoring Faris Abuzahra's memory through this scholarship, we aspire to uphold his values and ideals. Through education, service, innovation, and compassion, we will carry forward his legacy and make the world a better place, just as Faris did in his lifetime. Together, we can make a lasting difference and ensure that Faris's legacy shines brightly for generations to come.

Criteria:
 
Each year MIST Nashville will grant two academic scholarships to two different senior competitors valued at $500 each, that will go towards academic expenses at their university of matriculation.
 
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be a current High School senior with a 3.0 GPA at minimum. Awarding of this scholarship is contingent on an acceptance and enrollment in a four-year college. Additionally, applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay demonstrating how they plan to continue spreading the values, qualities, and the positive legacy of our loved MIST Alumnus, Faris Abuzahra. Respected recipients are expected to uphold a high standard of conduct.
 
Application Requirements:

  • Official High School transcript showing a GPA of at least 3.0.

  • A 500-word essay. Must be typed, double spaced, and using 12-point Times New Roman font.

  • One letter of reference. This may not be written by a family member or a friend. The writer must email the letter to nashville@getmistified.com no later than April 12th, 2024.

Applications are due a week prior to the tournament, April 12th, 2024. Applicants will be notified of the scholarship award on April 21st, 2024 during the awards ceremony.
